SELF-CUSTODY EXPLAINED

Keep control.
Keep a backup.

Good wallet security starts with knowing what protects your assets, and what you need to protect yourself.

Protected by your iPhone.

Wallet creation and phrase validation happen locally. Recovery phrases are stored in iOS Keychain with device-only protection. On a physical iPhone, access to a key requires system authentication and a device passcode.

The app covers its interface when inactive, clears temporary recovery input when backgrounded and prevents third-party keyboard extensions from handling recovery words. These measures do not make a compromised device safe.

One phrase for each wallet.

Write all words down in order and keep them offline. Anyone with the phrase can control that wallet. Device-only keys do not sync through iCloud, and support has no copy. Test that you have a complete backup before relying on a wallet for valuable assets.

A review before every payment.

Check the full address, selected network, token contract, amount and fee. Names in an address book and copied token symbols are not proof of ownership or authenticity. A signed blockchain transfer cannot be undone by Hype Wallet.

Public networks have public records.

Balances and activity require public addresses to be queried through RPC and indexing providers. Providers can see your IP address and requests. Completed onchain transfers expose addresses, amounts and transaction details. No registration does not mean anonymous blockchain use.

When something looks wrong.

Pause before authorizing a transfer. If a recovery phrase has been exposed, that wallet should be considered compromised. Use the Support guide for practical troubleshooting. Never enter recovery words on this website.
